Our Vision

1. CLARIFICATION OF DEFINITIONS AND USAGE OF TERMS RELATED TO MANUAL THERAPY

In Japan, the classifications and definitions of manual therapy and orthopaedic manipulative physical therapy are not clear. Our society will clarify the definition of the terms "manual therapy" and "manual/manipulative physical therapy" in Japan, and make recommendations on how to use these names.

2. RECOMMENDATION OF PATIENT-BASED OUTCOME MEASURES TO VALIDATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MANIPULATIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY.

Research activities to verify the effectiveness of manual physical therapy should be promoted, and a standardized outcome measure is needed to establish a database. In order to recommend the use of patient-based outcome measures, which have been recommended in various disease guidelines in recent years, we will endeavor to understand the situation in clinical practice and address the issues.

3. EXAMINATION OF EDUCATIONAL CONTENT RELATED TO MANUAL SKILLS NECESSARY FOR MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSICAL THERAPY.

Standardization of techniques is also required for evidence building. We will investigate the views and status of manual skills education among young physical therapists and educational institutions, and consider the ideal form of pre- and post-graduate education in manual skills.

4. INCORPORATION OF OUR SOCIETY

Promote academic activities such as holding academic conferences hosted by the society, and develop the society into a corporate society.
